You can ask to have purchases from several Chinese suppliers received at one location and sent together. Before the suppliers dispatch, agree how each order will be identified, what will be checked on arrival and who can approve the final shipment.
DHL calls this consolidation: combining smaller shipments into a larger one. Whether it works for your order depends on the goods, destination and available transport arrangements.
Send one list covering all suppliers
Start with a simple spreadsheet. Give each supplier’s purchase its own reference and share the list with the receiving team.
| Record | What to include |
|---|---|
| Supplier | Company, contact and pickup or dispatch location |
| Order | Purchase reference, product, model and quantity |
| Packing | Expected cartons and the supplier’s packing list |
| Arrival | Tracking details and expected arrival date |
| Work needed | Carton count, photos, product checks or repacking |
| Destination | Country, city, postal code and recipient details |
Ask suppliers to use the agreed order references on their delivery information. If a carton arrives without a clear identity, resolve which order it belongs to before including it in the shipment.
Be clear about what “received” means
Receiving cartons does not automatically mean every product has been inspected. Tell the team whether you need a carton count, item count, photos, measurements or a separate product inspection.
Ask how shortages, damage or unidentified goods will be reported. Keep the arrival record alongside the supplier’s packing list so you can see what is still missing.
Decide what happens if one order is late
Before waiting becomes a problem, agree who can choose between holding all the goods and sending part of the order.
If you change the plan, request a revised price. A quote based on one combined shipment may not describe the cost of two separate dispatches. Also ask when storage charges begin and how they are calculated.
Agree any repacking before it starts
Explain which original boxes or labels must stay with the goods. Ask for approval photos if the final packing arrangement matters to you. Changes to protection or packaging should be agreed, not made solely to reduce the size of the shipment.
Once packing is finished, request the final package count, weight and dimensions for the transport quotation.
| Before release | What you should have |
|---|---|
| Every order is accounted for | Arrival list with shortages or unresolved items shown |
| Required checks are complete | Photos or reports for the work you requested |
| Packing is agreed | Final package details and any approvals needed |
| Transport can accept the goods | Confirmation based on the actual product information |
| You are ready to send | A recorded instruction from the person approving dispatch |
Ask the receiving team and transport provider to confirm these points before booking.
Compare the whole cost
Ask for a breakdown covering supplier collection, receiving, storage, checks, repacking, international transport and destination services. Compare it with sending the orders separately. A lower freight charge alone does not show which option costs less overall.
For the final delivery details, use the door-to-door quotation checklist. Confirm the customs responsibilities and any charges that remain outside the quote before booking.

Questions before ordering
Can I combine orders from three Chinese suppliers?
Send the product details, quantities, supplier locations and destination. We can discuss receiving and combining the goods, subject to the products and transport arrangements.
Will combining the orders definitely be cheaper?
Ask for both options. Compare collection, receiving, storage, repacking and destination charges as well as freight. The result depends on your orders and route.
What if one supplier’s goods are late?
Agree how long to wait and who can approve a partial shipment. Ask for an updated price and packing details before changing the plan.
Does receiving the cartons include checking every product?
Only if that work has been agreed. Counting cartons, photographing arrivals and inspecting the goods are separate tasks to specify.
